Earth Hour Impact
Phoenix was one of a handful of North American cities picked to participate in Earth Hour. The WWF, which sponsored the event, says more than 400 cities and 60 million worldwide took part. Energy vs Endangered Fish
The Department of Interior created a man-made flood in the Colorado River by releasing water from Glen Canyon dam in early March. The flood produced many beaches beneficial to wildlife, but a northern Arizona environmental group thinks more should be done to protect an endangered species of fish in the river. John F. Long Remembered
West Valley developer and philanthropist John. F. Long died at the age of 87 after a short illness. Long was the first to build a master planned community in Phoenix, offering affordable, well-build homes in a community he named after his wife Mary. The developer of Maryvale also donated thousands of acres of land and money for parks, schools, and many community buildings. KJZZ's Paul Atkinson looks back at the contributions of John. F. Long.
Services for John F. Long will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 11th at Community Church of Joy, 21000 N. 75th Ave., Glendale.
