Marcos Najera

Marcos Najera is a proud native of Phoenix, Arizona. Before joining KJZZ as a Latino Affairs Reporter, he station managed and led the launch of know99 Television—the City of Phoenix Youth and Education Cable Channel. know99 Television trains local teenagers to become on-air reporters.

Marcos started his journalism career as a reporter/editor for the bilingual newspaper El Sol de Arizona back in the 80’s. Since then, he has reported and produced at TV stations in Arizona and California including KRON, KPIX, KTVK and KGUN. He has field produced segments for several network clients including The Discovery Channel, Univision, Oprah, and The Cristina Show.

Along with reporting, Marcos works in theatre as an actor, writer and producer. His most recent work-in-progress, JABON, chronicles the oral-histories of people punished for speaking Spanish in Arizona schools. Marcos also assisted NYU Professor Anna Deavere Smith on her play 'House Arrest' about the press and the American President and her film 'Twilight' about the 1992 L.A. Riots. Marcos is a company actor for Childsplay Theatre of Arizona. He holds a B.A./M.A. from Stanford University.
