Paul, the eldest of three children grew up in LaPlatta, Maryland, His parents were both musical and the first jazz record he remembers hearing when he was 7, was "Ray Charles and his Big Band: Sounds of the Genius" Found in a trunk of Motown records left by his Uncle from New Orleans. Wow! He learned about the healing power of music, in his first job, where he played jazz standards for people in hospitals and saw them change their outlook with the sound of the music.

Paul studied saxophone, improvisation and composition at the University of Miami with Dennis Diblasio, and Ken Nigro. He has been heard and encouraged by Stan Getz and Wynton Marsalis in his travels, and although health issues have kept him from front line touring, he still blows a mean sax. You can hear him play here in Arizona at churches and clubs and sometimes on Saturday afternoons serenading the shoppers at Nordstroms.

Paul's talent comes from his heart, and he brings warmth and joy to the everyone he meets and to the jazz he plays on Tuesday and Wednesday late nights on KJZZ. We are lucky to have such an experienced and well informed jazz afficionado here at KJZZ.

"I'm trully blessed to have so much in my life, and the greatest gift of all, is the love and support of my new family at Scottsdale Congregational Church of Christ , where jazz, and spiritual rejuvenation are open to everyone! Last but not least the true friendship of Chuck and Mary Ann Marohnic, and the joy ,and friendship of vocalist Jaime Jordan."
