A new case of measles has was reported Tuesday in Maricopa county. This brings the total to seven confirmed cases between Maricopa and Pinal counties. This outbreak spawned from the Disneyland cases and the end is not in site yet, said Rebecca Sunenshine with Maricopa Health.

“I would predict that this measles outbreak, starting in Disneyland, will go on for months and months," Sunenshine said. "This disease is incredibly dangerous. A lot of people have been exposed throughout the United States and we’re seeing a lot more people who are unvaccinated and this disease will find the unvaccinated person in the room.”

The infected person was at Phoenix Children’s East Valley Center and up to 195 people could have come in contact with the disease. 

Another new case comes from Pinal County. The person is someone who came in contact with the family that tested positive for the four cases last week. Kore Redden with the Pinal County Health said the person went to five different public locations during the infectious period.  

“On Tuesday, Jan. 22, this person visited four public locations in Kearny," Redden said. "Big D’s convenience store, Gordon’s IGA, Kearny Health Mart and Kearny Post Office. Then, on Wednesday, Jan. 23, the case also went to Cactus Mini Mart.”
