Super Bowl ticket holders are expected to come from all around the country, especially with teams from both coasts traveling to Arizona for the game, and the NFL Ticket Exchange has been tracking sales.

Jennifer Swanson with Ticketmaster said that the distance between the team’s home cities and Phoenix does play a part in who is buying.

"Right now on NFL Ticket Exchange we’re seeing the largest amount of fans buying from Washington State," she said. "They’re over 25 percent of our representative fans who are buying, followed by Arizona at 12 percent, California at around 8 percent and Massachusetts fans are coming in at about 5 percent."

This means that about half the ticketholders are coming from other places that include not only the U.S., but 25 other countries.

But if you're still planning on buying tickets, you may want to take your mouse off of the "buy" button. The time to buy your Super Bowl tickets is still a few days away.

The trend over past years has been to drop prices the closer it is to game day. Last year, the average price of a Super Bowl ticket through Ticket City was $2,400. Right now, a ticket to see the Seahawks and Patriots face off costs nearly $3,000 on average.

However, prices on tickets can drop significantly during the two weeks leading up to the game. Ashley Kubiszyn with Ticket City compares this process to a clearance sale where everything must go.

"So based on my predictions, the best days to buy tickets are going to be either the day of, which you know, that can be a little nerve wracking for people to wait until the day of, or three or two days before seem to be the sweet spot," she said.

Kubiszyn predicts that during that sweet spot prices could be as low as $1,600. She warns people of the day-before rush when locals will be buying tickets and driving up prices.
