First Kidney Transplant From Living Donor With HIV Performed In Possible Game-Changing Move

Last week, doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore performed the the first kidney transplant from a living donor with HIV.

It could be a game-changer for patients with the AIDS virus who need a transplant, and it marks another move toward removing the stigma for people living with HIV.

Dr. Christine Durand is a transplant infectious diseases physician and associate professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins, and she said it was an exciting day for all of them.
