Rio looks out for her bear cub Luka when is going about his adventures in the yard. She always makes sure he doesn't climb too high or get hurt.

The Wildlife Conservation Society has discovered, somewhat accidentally it seems, that Andean Bears do not like to have their photos taken. Scientists had set up camera traps attached to trees in a protected area in Bolivia, and video shows the bears just going to town on them.

And, while this is all very interesting, the reason we are talking about it is that the Phoenix Zoo has an Andean Bear cub, Luka, who will turn one in a few months. He is a big part of the zoo’s marketing. Joseph Becker is the man who has been taking Luca’s picture. Becker is the Phoenix Zoo’s digital communications specialist.
