In 2011, a Scottsdale-based development group purchased 600 acres of land in Casa Grande with plans to build an international trade center. Now they're preparing to break ground on the project.

In November, AZ Sourcing is set to start building PhoenixMart, a 1.7 million square foot international trade center aimed at attracting about 2,000 vendors, from industries including automotive, hospitality and electronics.

About one third of those vendors are expected to be foreign companies. Cronkite News reports PhoenixMart is modeled after similar international trade centers in Dubai and China. The project will cost about $150 million and is set to open late next year.
