Central Arizona Shelter Services CEO On Phoenix Ordinance Banning Standing In Medians

It’s a time of giving. And a time of sharing with those who are less fortunate. In a recent interview with KJZZ, Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said he’s focused on working with those who are near the brink of homelessness to provide them with a safety net.

However one potential revenue stream for those suffering from housing instability may soon dry up. Last week the Phoenix City Council passed a new ordinance that seeks to eliminate panhandling near intersections and city streets.

Described as a traffic safety measure, those who would solicit money or panhandle in the medians of Phoenix will now be subject to fines and a misdemeanor.
