SRP: Record Rainfall Didn't Change Arizona's Water Reservoir Storage

Remnants of a tropical storm dropped a record amount of rain on Arizona on Tuesday. So what going to happen to the state’s reservoirs?

Charlie Ester with SRP said nothing. That’s because the water shed soaked up much of the rainfall.

"But the bottom line it’s really not going to change the current reservoir storage. But it really has helped wet up the water shed for future precipitation and the potential for additional run-off in the future," said Ester.

The total reservoir system is 46 percent full. Last year it was at 65 percent. Ester says El Nino conditions are developing and we could see more rain this winter.
