Health officials say an out-of-state visitor may have exposed an untold number of people in Northern Arizona to measles. No new cases have been reported, but that could change.

The Arizona Department of Health Services said the infected person traveled through the area between Aug. 6 and Aug. 8, mostly visiting spots in Sedona.

He or she may have exposed people at such busy spots as Slide Rock State Park and Enchantment Resort, as well as Cracker Barrel restaurant in Kingman.

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases on the planet and has an incubation period of around two weeks. The illness begins with watery eyes and flu-like symptom, followed by a rash. People who think they have contracted measles are urged to seek medical care – but are cautioned to call ahead, so that others are not exposed.
