State wildlife officials are warning people in southern Arizona to beware of aggressive coyotes.  This comes after some cyclists were chased to within 10 feet.

Coyotes have chased cyclists on the Loop Trail on five separate occasions over the past few weeks. Arizona Game and Fish Department spokesman Mark Hart said there are some actions trail users can take if they come across a coyote.

"Stop, face the animal, maintain eye contact, make a lot of noise by yelling, wave their arms, throw objects that they have on hand, even spraying it with a water bottle if it gets too close,” Hart said.

Hart said it could be a case of a mother protecting her pups nearby.
