Republican lawmakers in Arizona are reacting to Democrats’ call for a special state legislative session on school safety, following the Texas high school shooting Friday.

Republican Rep. Eddie Farnsworth, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, told Capitol Media Services he's not sure that the Severe Threat Orders of Protection that Gov. Doug Ducey wants can ever be enacted in a way that he and fellow Republicans believe sufficiently protects individual rights.

"A lot of these people are going and saying I'm going to shoot up as much as I can and then I'm going to be death by police," said Farnsworth. "How do you stop somebody who's willing to die? Nobody can answer those questions. You can't stop it. What you can do is you can meet force with force."

Gov. Ducey tweeted that he was "Praying for the community at Santa Fe High School" shortly after the incident.
