The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) keeps a list of names of people who should not be around children called the Central Registry and is supposed to catalog individuals with proven reports of child abuse.

Before anyone can adopt or foster a child in Arizona, DCS checks the applicant against the list. But an Arizona Republic investigation revealed that the list doesn’t cover every field — and sometimes people are put on the list erroneously.

The Arizona Republic’s Mary Jo Pitzl talked with The Show about her report.
