Legendary Latina Activist Dolores Huerta On Where We Go From Here
When you hear the chant, “Si, Se Puede!” you probably think about legendary Latino activist Cesar Chavez, who led immigrant farmworkers in California to fight for their rights in the 1950s and '60s.
But, “Si, Se Puede!” was actually a term coined by Dolores Huerta. Huerta was an equal partner in founding the first farm workers union alongside Chavez. Like a lot of women in history, her name is less well known.
Now, a new documentary premiering on PBS this week brings her story front and center. "Dolores" tells the story of Huerta’s life fighting for the working poor.
The Show caught up with Huerta to talk about the documentary and what work she thinks still needs to be done today.
