The Peoria Unified School District Governing Board is taking steps to remove its current superintendent, with the latest decision coming Monday.

Since early November, the Peoria school board has been convening in executive sessions to discuss a possible separation with the district’s superintendent.

Darwin Stiffler took the position last year, after the previous superintendent retired in July 2016.

At the latest meeting this week, the board met in executive session to discuss replacing Stiffler and negotiating his contract.

After that, the board suggested adding two agenda items on next month’s meeting, voting on separating with the superintendent and working to pick a replacement.

A district spokeswoman said Wednesday morning the district could not comment on the situation.
