Sinema Announces Bid For Flake's Senate Seat
Another Arizona Democrat is officially joining the 2018 U.S. Senate race. U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema confirmed Thursday that she’s running for the seat held by Republican Jeff Flake.
Sinema currently holds a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Arizona’s 9th District, which encompasses a large portion of the Phoenix metro area.
She announced her run for Senate through a video on YouTube.
"I’m Kirsten Sinema. I approve this message, and I’m running for the U.S. Senate because I’m not giving up on the American dream."
Sinema joins Deedra Abboud on the Democratic side of the race. Republican Kelly Ward is also hoping to win the seat. Incumbent Jeff Flake has been representing Arizona in the Senate since 2013.
