Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake say the Obama Administration is backing off from Operation Streamline, an enforcement program on the border that reduces illegal immigration by prosecuting all illegal immigrants.

Flake says Attorney General Eric Holder is stepping back from strict enforcement of border security laws, sending the signal that the border is open again.

"It just kind of plays into the whole narrative that we aren’t enforcing our immigration laws, so it’s not a good sign," Flake said.

But Tucson Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva said it’s just an attempt to provide due process.

"What Holder is doing is saying some people, if they ask for a hearing in front of a judge individually, should be entitled to it," Grijalva said.

McCain said he believes Operation Streamline is the most effective immigration program we have and that it should be retained.
