Maricopa County has installed two new flashing devices at roads meant to warn motorists not to continue if the road is flooded.

The lights are being implemented at unincorporated Maricopa County roads with the two most recent at Bartlett Lake Road at Camp Creek Wash and Old Stage Road at New River.

"The installation of the lights, added on to the signage that was there, are early warning for drivers that will trigger if the water flow in that area reaches about 12 inches or more, they’ll start flashing automatically,” said Latonya Jordan Smith with the Maricopa County Flood Control District.

Smith said the locations of the next two light systems have been determined but not released yet.
