ASU Dean On Liberal Arts Education

The concept of liberal arts education is at least somewhat based on the idea of an openness to learning more about literature, language, history and philosophy—among other subjects.

But has an increase in accessible technology used by kids at a very young age changed how they learn and access the broad nature of liberal arts.

Steven J. Tepper is the dean of ASU’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. In a recent edition of “The Chronicle of Higher Education,” he wrote an essay titled “Thinking 'Bigger Than Me' in the Liberal Arts.” We spoke with him about it.
