In an op-ed in USA Today, U.S. Sen. John McCain says that the Russia threat is “dead serious.”

During a Facebook Live town hall, he says he’s discouraged by the lack of effort by legislators to retaliate against Russia for their efforts to interfere in the 2016 election.

“We have basically done nothing to Russia to what now everyone agrees, literally everybody agrees, was a Russian attempt to change the outcome of a free and fair election," McCain said. 

McCain says if you can change the outcome of an election then you have destroyed democracy in that country. Which he says is just one phase of Vladimir Putin’s long-term campaign to weaken the United States.

President Trump is set to meet with Putin next week during the G-20 summit in Germany.
