Phoenix Sky Harbor will soon have non-stop flights to Germany. Condor Airlines will offer the twice-a-week flights to Frankfurt for five months starting in May of 2018.

Deborah Ostreicher, Sky Harbor’s assistant director, said Phoenix currently has non-stop flights to London, but this will be its first non-stop connection to mainland Europe in more than a decade.

"Airlines don’t make these decisions lightly," Ostreicher said. "They put airlines and resources where they’re going to be profitable. So, the fact that they’ve chosen Phoenix as a place that they see as a profitable place to serve is huge news for business and tourism."

Ostreicher said if the route proves to be popular, Condor will add more flights from Sky Harbor. If not, the airline will pull out.

Right now, Sky Harbor has non-stop connections to more than 20 international destinations, most across Canada and Mexico.
