Temperatures will be dropping this weekend, across the state, as a rather strong Pacific storm system moves through Arizona.

Meteorologist Dave Vonderhide of the National Weather Service in Flagstaff says there could be some significant moisture.

“There’s a very good chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of those storms could be strong," Vonderhide said. "There’s the potential for some very gusty winds, large hail, there’ll definitely be heavy rains.”

Vonderhide says parts of central and northern Arizona could get 1 to 2 inches of rain. And, he says this could be the start of a trend as we could be in for above-normal precipitation through the fall and into the winter as an El Nino weather pattern develops.
