The Head Of An Arizona Utility Company Steps Down After Indictment
The head of a utility company indicted Thursday stepped down from management of the company.
The owner of Johnson Utilities, George Johnson, was indicted by a federal grand jury. He was accused of bribing former corporation commissioner Gary Pierce.
The indictment said Johnson and a lobbyist for his company funneled money to Pierce and his wife. All four were indicted by the grand jury.
On Friday, an attorney for Johnson filed a notice with the corporation commission saying Johnson had removed himself from all management duties of Johnson Utilities, effective immediately, in order to devote his time to defending himself.
