August 27, 2013

Much of Phoenix was blanketed by a dust cloud Monday night as a storm blew through the central and western parts of the metro area. Between a quarter and three quarters of an inch of rain fell. Tempe saw downed trees and power lines.

“We’re pretty much done with it,” said Marvin Percha, meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “The disturbance that generated the storm is rapidly moving off into the north, up into extreme northern Arizona and Utah and away from us.”

Much of Northwestern Arizona is under a flood watch until late Tuesday. According to Percha, that there are significant chances for rain in the Phoenix area Thursday and Friday.
