Grand Canyon's North Rim Scheduled To Open May 15
Grand Canyon National Park officials say the North Rim will be opening later this month.
The North Rim will open as scheduled on May 15, but some services will be limited. Officials say trucks are hauling water to fill storage tanks while repairs are underway to a water supply pipeline that was damaged by rockslides over the winter.
The campground will have portable water and a concessionaire will begin providing some food and beverage services, but overnight accommodations won’t be available until later May 26.
The year-round facilities at the South Rim and Phantom Ranch at the Canyon's bottom aren't affected by the damage to the pipeline.
