It has been a home-run spring training at Salt River Fields, which is home to the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies. Multiple attendance and stadium records have been surpassed this year.

The new single-game attendance record at Salt River Fields has been set at 14,002. But, that’s just a fraction of the more than 300,000 people who visited the venue shared by the Diamondbacks and Rockies during spring training.

This is also seventh straight year Salt River Fields has met that mark, making it the only Major League Baseball spring training complex to ever accomplish that.

Graham Rossini, Diamondbacks vice president of Special Projects and Fan Experience, said these record crowds are inspiring.

“We feel great. You know, Salt River Fields has been an enormous point of pride for both the Diamondbacks and the Rockies since we opened up in 2011,” he said. “And it’s great each spring to see the fans come out in big numbers and to celebrate record crowds in the last week was a big highlight for both clubs.” 

Both teams have worked together to make the facility a cohesive one to accommodate all fans, of all teams, and the large number of crowds they attract. 

“It’s not the largest stadium in the Cactus League," Rossini said. "But it’s definitely built to handle large volume on some of those peak games when we have weekends in the heart of March or big matchups against the Cubs, or Dodgers, Giants and other teams that really draw well in the area.” 

The facility has had 129 sellout games since 2011. 

The last spring training game at Salt River Fields will be played on Saturday when the Rockies take on the Seattle Mariners.
