A former U.S. Border Patrol agent from Arizona was sentenced last week for drug trafficking and bribery.

Juan Pimentel pleaded guilty to smuggling 50 kilograms of a substance he thought was cocaine from Arizona to Chicago in 2015. He accepted $50,000 in exchange, which was offered by an undercover officer.

At a traffic stop, officers found the substance and Pimentel’s border patrol credentials.

The bribery charges stem from earlier in 2015, when Pimentel took money in exchange for license plate information obtained from a law enforcement database.

The 48-year-old was a border patrol agent in Nogales since 2001. He was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison.
