Grenade Found In Donation Box Brought To Fire Station
A box of items donated to the Kiwanis Club in Carefree became a problem Saturday, when a grenade was found inside. The donation was brought to a fire station and Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom says deputies took it from there.
Hegstrom says deputies cleared the area within 300 ft. line of sight and called out an explosives team.
He says the explosives experts determined there was black powder inside and disposed of it properly, away from any homes or structures.
