The Department of Homeland Security said that in 2015 border agents searched around 5,000 cell phones. They searched that many just last month.

So, what’s behind the jump, and what are border agents allowed — and not allowed — to do with your phone when you’re coming into the country?

To help answer those questions, I’m joined by Stan Goldman, a law professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
