The two finalists in the search for University of Arizona’s next president will be meeting with the Arizona Board of Regents today.

The board hopes to make a final choice next week. Today's meeting begins the final phase of the hiring process.

The two candidates meeting with regents are Sethuraman Panchanathan, who is the vice president and chief research officer of Arizona State University’s Knowledge and Enterprise Development, and Robert Clayton Robbins, president and CEO of Texas Medical Center.

Regents say they’ll announce a finalist on Tuesday. That candidate will visit the UA campus Wednesday and meet with students during a moderated public forum.

After making a final choice early next week, the regents plan to begin contract negotiations in early April.
