3 Inches Of Rain In Eloy

July 23, 2013

Residents of Eloy, Ariz. are cleaning up this morning after a heavy thunderstorm dumped a lot of rain on the town in a short period of time Monday afternoon. David Lader of the National Weather Service in Tucson, says the storm hit with very little warning.

“We had a complex of thunderstorms develop over south-central Pinal County that moved across the Interstate-10 corridor,” Lader said. “It’s resulted in heavy rainfall with about one to one-and-a-half inches of rain in about an hour or a little bit less.”

Overall, the Weather Service says storms dropped nearly three inches of rain on parts of Eloy on Monday. That left muddy roads and standing water on some streets in the town, about 60 miles southwest of Phoenix.
