U Of A Med School Welcomes Newest Class

July 22, 2013

Eighty students symbolically entered the medical profession on Friday with the annual White Coat ceremony for the newest class at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix.

Among them was Katy Coyne who says this rite-of-passage ceremony takes place two weeks into the first year of medical school.

“Putting on the white coat, I would say is an indescribable feeling of just joy, just pure joy, again, solidifying the fact that we’ve made it,” Coyne said.

This group is the seventh class of first year medical students at the new downtown Phoenix campus, where 114 physicians have graduated over the last three years.
