Website Creator Says Milke Is Innocent
As prosecutors and defense attorneys prepare for a new trial for death row inmate Debra Milke, a German man who created a website proclaiming her innocence is watching closely. Frank Aue says he met Milke in prison in 2000 and does not believe she's a murderer.
“I got to know Debra as a very truthful, very upfront person,” Aue said. “Always straight forward, you knew what she wanted. And on that basis, we always got along very well.”
Milke has spent 22 years on death row for arranging the murder of her 4-year-old son. Her case was overturned earlier this year when an appeals court rejected a detective's unrecorded claim that she had confessed. Two men remain on death row for carrying out the murder.
