Mick Mulvaney has been sworn in as director of the White House budget office, but he was only voted in on a tight 51-49 margin.

Senator John McCain was the only Republican to vote against his confirmation.

McCain had previously stated he would vote "no" on Mulvaney, because as a Congressman is South Carolina, Mulvaney had voted to support cuts to Pentagon spending.
