Wet Weather Allows For Lessening of Forest Restrictions

July 10, 2013

Recent rains and higher humidity are allowing forest officials in northern Arizona to relax restrictions in the Coconino and Kaibab National Forests. Spokesman Brady Smith says that'll give people using the forests some leeway.

“You’re not going to be able to have campfires when you’re doing dispersed camping,” Smith said. “But, there are certain things that you can do. For example, you can have a grill and you’re allowed to smoke outside of a building or enclosed vehicle.”

But, Smith says the rains have been sporadic, with the Flagstaff area getting the most and the area near Sedona, getting very little precipitation.
