Arizona’s water usage goes back to the future, and baby boomers are changing how we deal with funerals.
Weekend heat sets energy use record
Last weekend’s high temperatures had Valley residents reaching for the thermostat. Because of overnight lows in the high 80s and extreme day-time temperatures, Salt River Project spokesman Jeff Lane said the company reported record-setting energy use.
“We set a year to date new retail peak demand of 6,473 megawatts. Now if that would have been 119 degrees on a week day, we very well might have set a new peak for our system," Lane said.
Arizona Public Service also reported high usage but no new records.
