Maricopa County Attorney To Restructure Divisions
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office is restructuring some divisions in an effort to enhance prosecutions of serious felonies.
County Attorney Bill Montgomery says 11 crime bureaus previously split into two divisions will be restructured into three newly created departments focused on more specific criminal categories.
Montgomery says the newly created Major Offenders Division will oversee capital cases, gang offenses, repeat offenders and vehicular crimes. The Organized Crime Division will handle cases of fraud and identity theft, asset recovery and drug enforcement. The Special Victims Division will handle domestic violence cases, sex crimes and auto thefts.
Montgomery says the new structure will help strengthen relationships with law enforcement agencies and maximize the use of resources.
