Arizona Woman Petitions For Missing Husband To Be Declared Legally Dead
FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — The wife of a Pinal County man who went missing more than one year ago is filing a petition for her husband to be pronounced legally dead.
Rhonda Smith's hearing is set for Sept. 11 in Pinal County Superior Court.
Thomas Keith Smith reportedly walked out of the couple's house after an argument on July 31, 2013 and never returned.
Rhonda Smith says her husband didn't take any method of communication or his diabetes medication with him.
She later called the county Sheriff's Office to report him missing, but he hasn't been found.
Rhonda Smith filed a petition last month to have the court pronounce her husband legally dead ahead of the normal five-year limit so she can have closure.
