Arizona Humane Society Sustains Storm Damage, But Back In Business
The Arizona Humane Society is back in business after nearly being washed away in Tuesday’s storm.
Spokeswoman Bretta Nelson says a torrent of water and mud did a real number on the landscaping and the bridal path at the South Phoenix Campus for Compassion.
“I heard from staff that was there that night that the dogs were, were scared. You know some of them were huddled on their little kuranda beds bit we were fortunate that staff was there, able to be with them and just confirm that they, they were okay," Nelson said.
Nelson says a wash that was put in near the facility a few years ago probably saved it from being destroyed. Now, she says some major repairs are needed. She estimates that will cost tens of thousands of dollars.
