Final Person Sentenced In Steroid Heist Informant Murder
An Arizona man has become the final person sentenced after the murder of a police informant in connection with a 2001 steroid heist.
A judge sentenced Mikhail Drahchev to 37.5 years in prison for his part in the murder of 21-year-old Konstantin Simberg.
The police informant was killed after revealing details of a botched effort to steal a million dollars in steroids from a FedEx truck outside a Phoenix pharmacy.
Drachev was convicted of second-degree murder in the gruesome killing of Simberg.
Simberg had acknowledged his involvement in the plot to steal 6,000 vials of human growth hormone and implicated another man in the crime.
Police say Drachev and two others kidnapped Simberg while he was talking on the phone to a police detective.
