Second Reddington Pass Fire sparks stage two fire restrictions

June 24, 2013

For the second time in nine days, there's a fire burning near the community of Reddington, on the Coronado National Forest. Fire information officer Gerry Perry says crews responded to another human caused fire this weekend, and that it's important that stage two fire restrictions are in place in all of the National Forests.

“For the time being and the immediate future, building or maintaining or using a fire, or a  campfire, choke, charcoal, coal or wood stove, including fires in developed camp grounds or improved sights is prohibited,” Perry said.

The fire was originally reported by a passerby, with a lookout in the area reporting it shortly thereafter. It had burned only a couple acres by late this weekend.
