The latest expansion plans for Scottsdale Fashion Square include offering some eye candy for drivers along a stretch of Goldwater Boulevard. The area that’s anchored by Nieman Marcus and once housed Harkins Camelview Theatre will feature a resort-style entrance with luxury amenities.

“The potential to have a private car that would be there waiting for people to travel from point to point or to an airport or to a hotel or resort,” explained Scott Nelson, senior vice president with Macerich, the company that owns the mall. “Having a full-time concierge with potential help in kind of the shopping experience.”

He said the design will help retailers reach nearly 20,000 cars every day. “We want to turn the mall kind of inside out and do something special from a visual and activity standpoint,” he said.

He said most of the 40-plus luxury stores are reporting sales back at pre-recession levels.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2017 and finish in late 2018. After the luxury wing renovation is completed, Macerich plans to add Class A office and high-end residential units on a nearly seven-acre parcel immediately north of the mall.
