We kick off a new series called "Central." We’ll be road tripping up Central Avenue, from South Mountain to North Mountain over the next few weeks.
UA Fraternity To Become Upscale Student Housing
A University of Arizona building that housed a now disgraced fraternity is being converted into high-end student housing.
The Arizona Daily Star reported Saturday that the university is remodeling the $1.8 million Greek Row house to fit approximately 62 students along with two residence advisers.
Rent will range from $7,000 to $7,800 per academic year.
The house was formerly occupied by Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, which has been investigated for hazing and serving alcohol to minors.
The fraternity's national office has also severed ties with the chapter.
Authorities have been trying to determine if the fraternity played a role in the death of 19-year-old Michael Evan Anderson.
Police say Anderson was legally drunk when he died after falling from a 20-foot tall ventilation tower in April.
