U.S. Airways Passenger Dies On Flight To Phoenix
Authorities in Phoenix say a passenger has died on a U.S. Airways flight to Phoenix from Honolulu after a suffering an unknown medical emergency.
Fire Capt. Benjamin Santillan said the passenger was a woman in her 50s.
Santillan said the woman lost consciousness while the plane was in the air. He said she had no pulse and was pronounced dead by responders after the plane arrived at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix.
Sky Harbor spokeswoman Julie Rodriguez said the flight was U.S. Airways 693. It left Honolulu on Tuesday night and arrived in Phoenix shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Matt Miller, a spokesman for U.S. Airways' merger partner American Airlines, said the passenger's medical emergency occurred as the plane was descending into Phoenix.
The cause of death has not been released.
