The Scottsdale City Council had narrowed the field of applicants for a city manager from a nationwide search to five, but two of those candidates dropped out earlier in the month. The three finalists made presentations to the City Council on Friday, but Scottsdale Communications Director Kelly Corsette says they’ll keep looking.

“They wanted to interview some additional candidates that have been identified in this process," Corsette said. "So staff is working on getting that set up. It’s something that could occur by the middle of December. We’ll just have to see what happens from there.”

The city manager runs the day-to-day operations of the city. Scottsdale Water Director Brian Biesmeyer has been serving as acting city manager since June 2015 after the former city manager suffered health problems.
