Arizonans looking to exercise their Second Amendment right on Election Day should stay away from the polls.

Arizona is one of only six states that prohibit guns in polling places. That means no one — even those with permits — can come within 75 feet of a polling location.

According to the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office, carrying a weapon “despite being outside a polling place is one thing,” but to do so “because” you’re near one “may cross a line.” The guidelines go on to say that aggressive or ostentatious display of a weapon would almost certainly be an act of voter intimidation.

The bottom line: the state’s top election official would rather anyone who’s planning to observe voters not have a gun.
