Tobin wants to know if legislators support Brewer's Medicaid plan
Closed-door budget talks are continuing at the state capitol, but House Speaker Andy Tobin says progress is slow. Tobin thinks it's time to find out if members support a Medicaid expansion plan Governor Jan Brewer is demanding be part of the budget.
"See which direction we want to go with either the Senate budget as amended or we are going to create our own. I think we need to see what we can do and accomplish on Medicaid and let members vote yes or no," Tobin said.
Tobin's stand-by plan would put the Medicaid expansion to a public vote, but Brewer does not want the measure on the ballot. Tobin believes there's enough support for his plan to win passage in the House.
