Many Hikers Requiring Rescue Suffer From Dehydration

Phoenix firefighters were busy over the weekend rescuing hikers from mountains in the Valley.
Captain Ben Santillan said a lot of those they’ve had to assist have been inexperienced, while the trails they’re hiking can be dangerous.
“It’s very alarming, it’s very scary because that’s all people they get disoriented and they can fall because a lot of them are very steep," Santillan said.
Santillan said a lot of the problems are related to dehydration but he says in some cases it’s nearly impossible to carry enough water to replenish what people lose during their hike.
