Cause Of Gilbert Dog Deaths Still Unclear
No evidence has been found that a dog chewed through an electrical wire at a Gilbert kennel, cutting power to a cooling unit and allegedly leading to the deaths of 21 canines last month.
Court documents were released Wednesday in the case involving the Green Acres Boarding Kennel where the dogs were found dead on June 20.
The boarding facility's owners said the animals died of heat exhaustion when one dog chewed through the air conditioner's power cord after caregivers left the facility for the night.
A veterinarian who performed necropsies on some of the dogs said they likely suffocated to death.
Tissue samples are being tested to determine if the dogs were drugged.
No arrests have been made in the case and no criminal charges have been filed.
